Semarang, November 5, 2025 — A moment of pride emerges from the Department of Nutrition, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip). Dr. Sandi Darniadi, a dedicated young researcher who previously completed his post-doctoral research supervised by Dr. Fitriyono Ayustaningwarno, S.TP., M.Si., has officially been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Food Engineering and Bioprocess Technology (FEBT) program, Department of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources (FANR), School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.
This appointment was officially announced by AIT on October 30, 2025, through their website ait.ac.th. The announcement warmly welcomed Dr. Sandi as part of the international academic community that will strengthen research and education in food process engineering, food biotechnology, and sustainable product innovation.
Dr. Sandi Darniadi is well known for his expertise and dedication in food technology and nutrition. During his post-doctoral tenure at the Department of Nutrition, Faculty of Medicine, Undip, his research focused on advanced drying technologies (freeze-drying and spray-drying) to preserve the nutritional quality and physicochemical properties of tropical fruits. His work has contributed to the advancement of sustainable food technology research in Indonesia.
A Ph.D. graduate in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Leeds (UK), Dr. Sandi previously served as a Senior Researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and as an Associate Researcher at the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD). His extensive research background positions him as a bridge between academia and applied research institutions at both national and international levels.
Dr. Sandi’s appointment at AIT not only represents a personal achievement but also reflects the excellence and global competitiveness of Undip’s Nutrition Department. Under strong mentorship and a research-driven environment, the Department continues to nurture researchers who gain international recognition. His new role at AIT is expected to open greater opportunities for collaborative research between Indonesia and Southeast Asia in food processing technology, bioprocess engineering, and functional food development.
