Alumnus of the Department of Nutrition, FK UNDIP, Secures Third Place in National Policy Brief Competition

Semarang, December 2025 — Another proud achievement has been accomplished by an alumnus of the Department of Nutrition, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (FK UNDIP) in Bachelor and Master program. Ariana Endrinikapoulos,S.Gz, M.Gz; Permata Laila Kurniastuti,SGz; Ayu Yovita,SGz; and Yusuf Hidayat, S.Gz was awarded Third Place in the Policy Brief category at the Health Policy Recommendation Writing Competition organized by the Center for Health Policy and Development (BKPK), Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The competition utilized data from the 2024 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (Survei Status Gizi Indonesia/SSGI) as the primary evidence base for policy development.

In this national competition, Yusuf was part of a team led by Mochamad Abdul Hakam from the Semarang City Health Office. The team presented a policy brief entitled “GANESSHA: A Student-Based Movement for Health and Stunting Awareness”, which highlights the strategic role of university students in supporting stunting prevention and reduction efforts through data-driven and cross-sectoral collaboration.

The competition was held as part of the Evidence-Based Nutrition Policy Health Conference: Insights from the National Nutrition Survey (SSGI) 2024, organized by the Ministry of Health through BKPK. The event aimed to strengthen and promote a sustainable culture of evidence-based health policymaking in Indonesia, particularly in the fields of nutrition and public health. Participants included academics, health professionals, researchers, and representatives from local governments across the country.

Out of hundreds of submissions, only a limited number of policy briefs advanced to the final stage after a rigorous selection process. The GANESSHA policy brief was recognized for its ability to effectively integrate SSGI 2024 data into practical, context-specific, and implementable policy recommendations at the local level. The proposed approach positions students as agents of change in stunting prevention programs while strengthening collaboration between educational institutions and government sectors.

The 2024 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) is a national survey conducted by the Ministry of Health to assess the nutritional status of children under five across Indonesia. The survey serves as a critical reference for national nutrition policy formulation, particularly in addressing stunting. Although the 2024 results indicate a decline in national stunting prevalence, sustained and innovative interventions remain essential to achieve equitable improvements nationwide.

The achievement attained by them and his team not only reflects personal excellence but also represents the tangible contribution of alumni from the Department of Nutrition, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoroto the advancement of national health policy. This success is expected to inspire students, alumni, and the academic community to continue generating evidence-based, relevant, and impactful health policy recommendations for the improvement of public health in Indonesia.
