Department of Nutrition Science Faculty of Medicine Undip continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to academic internationalization through the Visiting Professor/Lecturer Online WCU 2025 program. This strategic initiative supports the enhancement of research quality, academic collaboration, and global engagement.
The online event, held on September 21, 2025, featured Boris Budiono from Charles Sturt University, Australia, as the invited professor and keynote speaker.
In his lecture entitled “The Utilization of Bioactive Compounds in Personalized Diets for Metabolic Syndrome,” Dr. Boris presented the latest scientific developments in the application of bioactive compounds for personalized nutrition strategies aimed at managing metabolic syndrome. The topic is highly relevant to global health challenges, particularly the increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases requiring precision-based and evidence-driven approaches.
The event attracted approximately 150 participants, including faculty members, students, and international attendees from Ireland and partner countries. The discussion session was highly engaging, generating 25 questions focusing on potential research collaboration, curriculum development, and joint scientific publications.
A key outcome of the program was the agreement on a draft joint publication targeted for submission to a reputable Scopus-indexed international journal in the first quarter of 2026. Furthermore, a formal commitment letter was established to strengthen continued collaboration for the 2025–2026 period.
Through this initiative, the Department of Nutrition Science Faculty of Medicine Undip further expands its International Research Network, enhances its academic reputation, and reinforces its contribution to global research collaboration in nutrition science.
